SINDA Youth Club Climbs at Boulder Movement
We caught up with SINDA Youth Club to hear more about their experience climbing as a team here.
Tell us more about your club?
SINDA Youth Club organises programmes that inspire and enable Indian youth to build positive values, develop good character and boost their self-esteem. Our organising team is made up of both staff and volunteers. Some of our volunteers have been with us for many years!
Our office is located at Beatty Road.
What were you hoping to get?
We are currently running a programme called SINDA Sports Initiative (SPIN). It is a six-month programme that encourages Indian youth to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. This term, we wanted to try out unconventional sports and we thought that bouldering fits the bill. We wanted to expose our youth club to bouldering and experience it first-hand, in hopes that they will pursue it further.
Why did you choose Boulder Movement?
We were researching about the differences between sport climbing and bouldering through Google. Eventually, we opted for bouldering. The packages are not expensive. The Boulder Movement staff have also been very accommodating to our needs.
How was your experience?
Some of us are scared of heights and falling but the climbing drills were perfect for beginners. It allowed us to cross out our fears and limits. The Basics of Bouldering introductory class taught us everything we needed to get started. We also loved the idea of a friendly-competition through the Bouldering Carnival as it allowed us to fight hard in a good way!
